  • Dr. John McKelvey is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon dedicated to providing quality care to his patients, bringing experience from the U.S. Army. He attended Virginia Military Institute where he graduated with Institute Honors and a BS in Biology. Dr. McKelvey went on to earn his DDS from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He then served as a general dentist for the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, maintaining dental readiness and delivering high-quality dental care to more than 16,000 soldiers. Dr. McKelvey then proceeded to complete an intensive oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC where he served as Chief Resident. There he received extensive clinical training in anesthesia, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma, and complex dental procedures. Dr. McKelvey maintains certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

    Dedicated to patient safety, surgical excellence, and collaborative care, Dr. McKelvey is committed to providing timely, high-quality service to referring providers and their patients. Outside the office, Dr. McKelvey enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, exploring new places with his family, and playing the guitar.

  • Brian N. Dyess DDS attended LSU and graduated in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in zoology. He then continued his education at the LSU School of Dentistry, receiving his DDS in 1983. His oral and maxillofacial surgery training included an internship at LSU–Shreveport in 1984, followed by a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Charity Hospital–LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. He completed his surgery training in 1988 and entered private practice in Baton Rouge in 1988. Dr. Dyess joined the Louisiana State University Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1989 as a clinical assistant professor in a part-time capacity. He continued his private practice composed of orthognathic surgery, TMJ surgery, facial trauma, oral pathology and reconstructive surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, and dental implants until June 2021. Since that time, he moved to a full-time faculty staff position with the expansion of LSU Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Our Lady of the Lake hospital in Baton Rouge. Dr. Dyess with his wife, Jeanne, and their 3 children enjoy outdoor activities and anything associated with LSU.
